About
The Rockaway Beach Triathlon is a Super-Sprint Triathlon along Oregon’s Northern Coast. Originally conceived as a one-time event in celebration of founder Steve Turina’s 40th Birthday, the race was so popular in its first year that it repeated again the next summer. After a ten year hiatus, the RBT is scheduled to return with much fanfare in July 2020. Registration is $20 per person, benefiting the Kevin Turina Memorial Scholarship at Central Catholic High School.
Swim
0.25 miles
Dive into the unseasonably warm waters of Lake Lytle’s East Bank (don’t actually dive, it’s quite shallow). Floatation devices are required for your safety.
Bike
2.25 miles
After your wet warm-up you’ll climb through the reeds onto the lake’s West Bank dock and hop onto your road bike for a 2.25 mile ride down Highway 101.
Run
2.25 miles
Hitch your bike to a piece of driftwood at the Nadonna Beach wayside, run down to the Jetty and then jet off on the sandy shore towards Twin Rocks.
Woodchopping Challenge
A new event this year, introduced by our mountaineering maiden Lucy Mathew. She slings her axe like a champ…are you up for the challenge? You have 2 minutes to crack as many logs as you can, winner takes all. Just $10 to register!

Directions
From Portland take Highway 26 West towards Tillamook until it becomes Highway 6. Continue through the coastal range and on the other side you’ll know you’re in Tillamook when you smell the cows. When you hit downtown Tillamook, hang a right onto Highway 101 North. Drive along the scenic coast through Garibaldi, Barview, and Twin Rocks. Once you get to the Lake Lytle Restaurant, take a left over the train tracks and up to Pacific Avenue. You’ve arrived!
